WHAT WE DO

We are currently in a design development phase for the expansion of the farm into a fully integrated regenerative agroforestry system, balancing production and conservation.  These innovative farming practices will improve biodiversity while sustaining land resources for future generations. We intend to be a living example, demonstrating the economic and environmental benefits of these practices. We believe we need to hand down proven solutions and tools to enable the resilience of future generations and to ensure healthy communities can survive and thrive.

Regenerative Agriculture

Is a land management approach and farming systems that produce nutrient dense foods while simultaneously improving, rather than degrading, the land.  It is a dynamic and holistic approach incorporating organic practices and permaculture principles.

Permaculture

Is a creative design process based on whole-systems thinking informed by ethics. It is a toolkit of principles to guide design decisions which mimic patterns we find in nature with an earth care, people care, fair share philosophy. Permaculture can be applied to all aspects of human life and advancing society, from agriculture and ecological building to technologies and economies.

Agroforestry

Is the intentional integration of trees and shrubs into crop and animal farming systems to create environmental, economic and social benefits. These integrated systems are managed to maintain productivity while improving biodiversity and sustaining land resources for generations. These practices enable diversification of products, markets, and farm income.  Agroforestry can improve soil and water quality, reduce erosion, and sequester carbon.
